Hi, my name is Taisei Koshida, and I am a certified public accountant and tax accountant.
I aim to assist non-Japanese business owners who need help with reading or writing in Japanese. If you find the Japanese tax return system challenging, I can help you with your tax filings.
This blog may help if you are unclear about the overview of initial capital and banking usage.
Regarding foreign managers in Japan, I will provide an overview based on the 2021 survey by the Japan Finance Corporation.
Initial capital sources
In terms of initial capital sources, 84% came from personal savings, 30% from family and relatives, 13% from co-managers and employees, and 12% from other individuals and companies.
Bank usage rates
Concerning bank usage rates 11% used private banks, 6% used public banks, and 2% utilized municipal fund programs. In a survey directed at Japanese managers, their bank usage rate was 13%. Thus, the bank usage rate for foreign managers doesn’t appear to be particularly low.
