If you are unclear about etiquette for visiting companies in Japan, you might find this blog helpful.
Be Punctual
In the Japanese business world, punctuality is a prerequisite for conducting business. If you anticipate even a slight delay, it’s essential to communicate this in advance. It is customary to arrive precisely at the agreed time. Being a few minutes early is acceptable, but arriving ten minutes or more before the appointment is considered inappropriate.
Shoe Removal Is Required at Some Offices
Occasionally, there are offices where shoe removal is required. Be sure to check that your socks do not have any holes before leaving your house.
Gifts Are Sometimes Expected
If you’ve been treated to a lavish meal or if you’re enjoying a favorable business relationship, it’s considered good manners to bring a small gift, such as a box of sweets costing a few thousand yen. This could potentially enhance your standing in the eyes of your business partners.
